Hiroshima - Week 13 (Total, week 32)

Hi guys!

Finally met the new President! He is awesome!! He works for Lagoon,
and helps make roller coasters. We only had a 5 minute interview with
him, but it was still way awesome. And the spirit that surrounds him
is amazing!
We also got our training for area books on the iPads, so we should be
using those soon, which will be way nice!
Kawamura had his confirmation done yesterday, by Elder Gorski. He is
one transfer older than me, and was way nervous! But he did good. It
was way cool.
This past week we have met a lot of cool people! One person we met
yesterday was a guy from Portugal. We communicated through Japanese,
and found out that he was a member of our church when he was 18. He
said he was only in it for 3 years, and later found out that in those
3 years, he served a mission! California! It was crazy! Now he is in a
different Christian church, and is married to someone in that church.

Hiroshima - Week 12 (Total, week 31)

This week I got my new companion! His name is Elder Allred! Last week
Elder Cascardi finished his mission, but is now traveling around
Japan! So I might see him today! This week one of our baptismal dates
might get baptized! His name is Kawamura (川村) He is way sweet. We're
not sure how great his testimony is, but he has a HUGE desire to be a
part of our church. I guess we will find out about his testimony on
Wednesday when we have his baptismal interview. We have been meeting
with him a lot, trying to see where his testimony has been, but he's
so nervous about being right, his answers are based on what he thinks
we want to know. But it's all good, I think we have done a poor job at
making him feel comfortable, so we will be doing better at that.
Elder Allred is a really good missionary, obedient and hard working.
He is from Draper, Utah, and is a way good missionary. He just came
from Okinawa, and said its not nearly as hot up here as down there.

For anyone wondering about the language.. Well, lets just say I still 

can`t speak very well. But I can talk with people now! :)

Hiroshima - Week 11 (Total, week 30)

Sorry I didn't email yesterday, transfer week is today, so our P-day got switched to Tuesday! 

Well this week my companion is going home, so I'm for sure getting a new companion. It's really sad that we're not going to be companions anymore, but I'm also way excited for this next transfer! We have 3 solid Baptismal Dates right now, and the other companionship has some too. Our area is doing way good right now. We had 11 investigators at church and only have like 50 people in this ward. It was way cool! 

Other than that, we have had a lot of meals with members and a lot of lessons with investigators. I can't remember if I told or not, but we got a referral from another area right next to ours, and he is doing way good. He has a date to get baptized on July 4th. Hopefully all work work out for him. 

Anyways. This next week will be good, so next week's letter will be better!

Hiroshima - Week 10 (Total, week 29)

Hiroshima - Week 9 (Total, Week 28)

Nothing new really has happened. We got to watch Meet the Mormons last P-day, and played mafia as a zone! It was way fun! 

We visited a lady in our ward whose name is O Shimai. She has been struggling coming to church lately and staying for all 3 hours, so we went to her house to see how she was doing. She had 2 bags full of treats that she gave to us, and was way happy that we came and visited her. 

We have a less active member that we have been visiting every week since I got here. Her name is E Shimai. She has a son, who is a little more active than her, but still a less active. She got baptized in February, but didn't know anything about the church. She still doesn't know much, but we are teaching her little by little. She has a smoking problem and her house has cockroaches crawling around, which is a little gross... But she has came for the past 3 Sunday's now, and is starting to learn more! And her son is getting close to receiving the Melchizedek priesthood.

Hiroshima - Week 8 (Total, week 27)

Well, this week was really busy. 

Last Monday we went to an Okonomiyaki factory, which is the famous food from Hiroshima. It was way cool, it showed the history of how they were made, and we got to see all of the sauces being made.

Tuesday the Hiroshima couple came to our house and checked it off for cleaning, and ended up giving us too more futons (sleeping pads). I've slept wonderfully this past week :). 

Thursday we had a training from our Zone Leaders. It was about beginning with the end in mind. They talked about not just getting our investigators to baptism, but helping them get to the temple afterwards. 

Friday we had our last interviews with our Mission President. He goes home at the end of this month. The interviews were good, we just talked about how he was feeling about going home and stuff. 

Yeah. That was pretty much this week. 

I'm doing really good though! I still can't speak the language.. hahaha. But it's coming it's coming!

Hiroshima - Week 7 (Total, Week 26)

I stayed in Hiroshima, with my same companion, so it didn't even feel like a transfer went by. This transfer is only 5 weeks long, since our Mission President is going home. My companion is also going home after this transfer, so we will see how he is ;) 

Nothing too crazy happened this week. I'll tell you a little about our Cambodian investigator. He is about 35. He has 6 younger siblings. He came to Japan so he could support them. He works everyday from 6am-6pm, except Sundays, and makes 750 yen an hour. Which is about $7. He is the kindest man I've ever met, and I have never heard him complain about anything. It's definitely eye opening to see people like this in the world, and become part of their lives. Anytime I feel like I want to complain, or if I'm sick, or feel like not working, I think about people like this. I hope this can help you guys this week.
